Jose Cuervo Skullify Get Back to Work!
You would have to be a drunken fool to not answer the call when Jose Cuervo comes a-calling, and Deedod is no fool. The Skullify project was a great example of innovation in the interactive space.To coincide with the Mexican holiday Dia de Muertos, our team worked closely with the agency B-Reel to create an exciting user experience in the Skullify project.
The site uses facial recognition features to identify and outline faces in images uploaded by users, the face is then modified to appear more like a skull with worn facial tissue. From this point the user has the ability to enhance the facial features in a number of different ways to create a life like skull of the photo uploaded. This ties in very closely to the concept and imagery associated with Dia de Muertos and is a lot of fun for the users to play with.
Deedod's role in the project was to create and store the user generated images for users to share with friends online via Twitter and Facebook. We created a custom content management system with CakePHP to manage all the user generated content created on the site. Deedod also created several backend scripts allowing the users to share their generated images via email and several social networking formats such as Twitter and Facebook.
The Skullify project was a lot of fun to participate in and several thousand facial skulls were created over the short lifetime of the site.
